Indeed, all of the music, and the excellent performances by the Athens State Orchestra under Stefanos Tsialis, reveal Skalkottas in the most positive possible light. I can’t imagine most listeners not enjoying this disc tremendously, and if you’ve shied away from Skalkottas because of his fearsome reputation, then you really must hear this. It’s a revelation.
